I had the great fortune of growing up in mid-town Toronto in the late 80’s. My family immigrated to Canada from South Africa in 1985. We lived on Willowbank Boulevard not far from Eglinton, a place I spent hours with friends. We’d often head across Eglinton to The Burger Shack on Oriole Parkway for their amazing burgers. Another favorite was Yitz Deli on Eglinton west of Avenue Road – they had a baby beef sandwich that was to die for and potato latkes with applesauce I can still taste.
I went to high school at Upper Canada College which was a really good experience for me. It encouraged my leadership at a young age and gave me incredible opportunities.
After university, I spent 6 years living near Yonge/Eglinton and working at Procter & Gamble at Yonge/Sheppard.
When I was first married I lived above Grazie Restaurant at Yonge north of Eglinton at Broadway.
I’ve had many memorable business lunches at L’Auberge Du POMMIER restaurant.
Cuisine Of India is still my favourite Indian restaurant in the GTA – have the Murgh Tikka Lababdar!
